Ladies night out, Big Break Carolina Trace style was a big success. Fifteen ladies enjoyed a wonderful evening of fun, food, drinks and competition. Five teams each made up of three ladies were challenged with eight different skills shots. Each team was named after one of the Hawaiian Islands. The shots ranged from as far out as eighty yards to a chip and a putt, bunker play, soft pitches and long putts were all part of the events challenges. Points were awarded for how close the ball came to the pin on the green. Ten points could be earned with your ball on the green outside the biggest circle. As you hit the ball closer the point values increased, fifty for right next to the pin and sixty-five for holing it out. In total, eight different shots led to the accumulation of the overall score. After shots six and seven, a member of the team was eliminated. In the seventh round, Mille Weaver chipped in for sixty-five points and then Diane Conti followed with two really close chips to propel team Oahu into the lead. The final shot was a long putt to decide the overall winner. Our very own Club Champion, Diane Conti rolled it right up close to secure the victory for her team. Team Oahu made up of Diane Conti, Mille Weaver and Sharon Venice finished first with 595 points. Team Maui with Joyce Gilliam, Sharon Morris and Nancy Johnson finished second with 590 points. The event was such a success we are looking to schedule another outing in the fall.
