About 80 local dignitaries, business leaders, and members gathered in the pouring rain under roof in the Marathon Bar for the groundbreaking of an approximately 30,000 square-foot grand clubhouse expected to be completed no later than December 1, 2009. CTCC President, Walt Hersman was the Master of Ceremonies. Additional speakers included, Sanford Mayor Cornelia Olive, Chairman of Lee County Commissioners, Richard Hayes, NC House Representative, Jimmy Love, Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce President, Bob Joyce, CTA President, Harry Undy and Fidelity Bank executives. Following their speeches, attendees met at the site of the clubhouse foundation to officially commemorate the groundbreaking.
